Bracelet bamboo coral

Bamboo coral is the fossilised root of bamboo. It is found in the soil of dried up seas where, in ancient times, bamboo would grow. Due to the process of perishing and the effects of salt and iron, the bamboo turned into stone. Bamboo coral is an environmentally friendly alternative to blood coral, which is now a protected species. 
 
Bamboo coral's natural colour is yellowish white. To give it this beautiful red colour, it is dipped in or injected with a red dye. After dyeing, the bamboo coral beads are resin polished to give them their shine.
