PLANT EXTRACTS:
A QUALITY EXTRACTION PROCESS
The extracts of Ladrôme laboratory fresh plants come from a traditional know-how. They meet the manufacturing and control requirements of the Pharmacopoeia, from the manufacturing process to the conformity analysis of the final product. After the harvest, the plants are transformed: finely crushed, they macerate for at least three weeks in a mixture of water and organic alcohol; this mixture is stirred daily. This process makes it possible to extract the maximum of substances that are soluble in water and alcohol, the alcohol serving at the same time as a preservative. The solution thus obtained is decanted and filtered to obtain the plant extract which will then be packaged at the production site in Drôme.
Unlike modern chemical medicine that uses only isolated active ingredients, herbal medicine uses parts of plants or whole plants that act thanks to the multiplicity of their active components (called totum).
A plant extract or mother tincture is a hydroalcoholic solution concentrated in the active ingredients of a medicinal plant. After harvest, fresh plants are immediately macerated. Finely crushed, they macerate for at least three weeks in organic alcohol. The mixture is stirred daily. The solution thus obtained is then pressed, decanted and filtered to obtain the plant extract.
Each plant extract thus has particular properties due to its unique composition of active ingredients!

Botany: The passionflower is a perennial climbing plant. It can also be found under the name of "passion flower" or "grenadilla". From the Passifloraceae family, the passionflower enjoys the sun, enjoying warm and tropical climates. Many species grow in South America. In France, it is grown in the Mediterranean areas. Some species have been modified by botanists to flourish on our coast Brittany or Vendée. The passionflower resembles a liana measuring several meters. Three lobes make up each of its leaves and its flowers have white petals, arranged in a crown. In the center, it is surmounted by filaments of extreme delicacy, generally purple. Its fruits, modest in size of 4 to 5 cm, slightly oval and orange, are edible and contain black seeds. They are today known as "passion fruit".

Its properties:
Passiflora has its origins in Mexico. First used for its sedative virtues by the Aztecs, it is called Passiflora incarnata, meaning "flower embodying passion" by the Jesuits in the sixteenth century. They saw in the constitution of the plant the illustration of the passion of Christ. Reported in Europe by the Spanish conquerors, these fruits were first consumed for their refreshing qualities. It was not until the nineteenth century that the passionflower became part of the European pharmacopoeia, when American doctors, in turn, recognize the sedative virtues of the plant, mentioned by the Aztecs. It is in 1937 that passionflower enters the French pharmacopoeia.
