PLANT EXTRACTS:
A QUALITY EXTRACTION PROCESS
The extracts of fresh plants ladrôme laboratory are from a traditional know-how. They meet the manufacturing and control requirements of the Pharmacopoeia, from the manufacturing process to the conformity analysis of the final product. After the harvest, the plants are transformed: finely crushed, they macerate for at least three weeks in a mixture of water and organic alcohol; this mixture is stirred daily. This process makes it possible to extract the maximum of substances that are soluble in water and alcohol, the alcohol serving at the same time as a preservative. The solution thus obtained is decanted and filtered to obtain the plant extract which will then be packaged at the production site in Drôme.
Unlike modern chemical medicine that uses only isolated active ingredients, herbal medicine uses parts of plants or whole plants that act thanks to the multiplicity of their active components (called totum).
A plant extract or mother tincture is a hydroalcoholic solution concentrated in the active ingredients of a medicinal plant. After harvest, fresh plants are immediately macerated. Finely crushed, they macerate for at least three weeks in organic alcohol. The mixture is stirred daily. The solution thus obtained is then pressed, decanted and filtered to obtain the plant extract.
Each plant extract thus has particular properties due to its unique composition of active ingredients!

Botany: Perennial plant with upright stem from Europe and Asia, fireweed can measure up to 2 m tall. It grows in all the temperate zones of the northern hemisphere, up to 2500 m altitude and in open lands such as clearings, embankments, wet ravines ... It also colonizes the areas that were burned. The willowherb has lanceolate and very elongated leaves. Arranged on the cob, they have the peculiarity of having circular ribs that do not terminate at their edges. The flowers of the fireweed occur in climbing clusters, of a purple to magenta color. At the top, a red-brown linear capsule releases, by opening, hundreds of seeds, favoring seeding. The willowherb breeds also by its roots. Flowering is gradual, between July and August, starting from the lowest flowers before leaving open those higher.

Its properties:
Although traditionally used for centuries, for example by Native Americans, fireweed does not have the long history of other species as a medicinal plant. It is mentioned for the first time in the seventeenth century by the botanist, herbalist and English physicist Nicholas Culpeper, in this case in his book The English Physician. However, we must wait until the twentieth century and the bestseller of the Austrian botanist Maria Treben, health at the pharmacy of God, so that the willowherb acquires its credentials as medicinal plant to be preferred in case of prostatic disorders. However, not all species of fireweed have therapeutic virtues; these are those with small red to pale pink flowers.

Internal use
- Emollient and astringent: the fireweed treats colitis, intestinal inflammation and diarrhea thanks to its tannins that will tighten the inflamed tissues and mucilages that will come to nourish dry tissues. Fireweed is also used in inflammations and irritations of the ENT sphere.
- Anti-inflammatory: thanks to an inhibitory effect of prostaglandins, willowherb is recommended for all disorders of the prostate, benign hyperplasia, inflammation, acute prostatitis (bacterial infection) and other infections. At the end of a surgical procedure, it calms the burns.

- Diuretic: Fireweed helps cure cystitis and, in general, all inflammations of the urinary sphere.
