The basis of a biodegradable plastic is the half-life, i. e. the natural decomposition which is the break down of raw organic materials into compost and must occur within 6 months. These lids comply with this EU standard.
 
How do I care for it?
It is easy. Remove the rubber tights, the cork and the bioplastic lid. What remains is the glass bottle. You can put it into a dishwasher or clean it by hand. The lid can be cleaned by hand.
